Precursor Particle Size as the Key Parameter for
Morphology control in the (Na,H)2TinO2n+1 system has been achieved by introducing particle size as the key parameter during hydrothermal synthesis. The process is applied for the synthesis of TiO2based nanofibers and nanotubes from natural rutile sand. The method is favorable for largescale production due to the simple synthetic approach and the lowcost precursor used.

Rutile Sand. Rutile is a mineral composed primarily of Titanium Dioxide, (TiO2). Rutile is the most common natural form of TiO2 and an important constituent of heavy minerals and ore deposits.Titanium dioxide pigment is the single greatest use of titanium worldwide.
Ilmenite Material Safety and Data Sheet
Ilmenite Sand contains a small amount of free quartz, and precautions should be taken to avoid inhaling the dust Radiation In common with many minerals, Ilmenite contains very low levels of naturally occurring radioactive elements of the uranium and thorium series.
Zircon – Tronox
These hightemperature appliions require the thermal stability, high melting point and abrasion resistance provided by zircon. Another important appliion is the production of a broad range of zirconia chemicals, which in turn, have a diverse range of end uses including ceramics, refractory, alysts, coating electronics and biomedical
Rutile Wikipedia
Rutile is a common accessory mineral in hightemperature and highpressure metamorphic rocks and in igneous rocks.. Thermodynamically, rutile is the most stable polymorph of TiO 2 at all temperatures, exhibiting lower total free energy than metastable phases of anatase or brookite. Consequently, the transformation of the metastable TiO 2 polymorphs to rutile is irreversible.
